The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 April 2021 was 402 146. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 4 572 persons or 1.12%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 230 348 or 57.28% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 17 436 persons or 4.16%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 3 629 persons (1.14%), in Republika Srpska by 924 persons (1.14%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 19 persons (0.18%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 April 2021:

108 371 unskilled workers or 26.95%, of whom 63 389 (27.52%) women;

6 664 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.66%, of whom 3 379 (1.47%) women;

127 500 skilled workers or 31.70%, of whom 60 047 (26.07%) women;

1 452 highly skilled workers or 0.36%, of whom 263 (0.11%) women;

115 660 with secondary education or 28.76%, of whom 73 794 (32.04%) women;

6 981 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.74%, of whom 4 496 (1.95%) women;

35 518 with university degree or 8.83%, of whom 24 980 (10.84%) women.

A total of 16 476 people were deregistered from public employment services in April, of whom 7 695 were women. Out of this number, there were 10 703 flows into employment, of which 4 972 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 120 people, of whom 4 382 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 2 751 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in March 2021 stood at 810 947, of whom 351 135 were women.  In comparison to February 2021, the number of people in employment increased by 0.3% and the number of employed women increased by 0.5%.

Registered unemployment rate for March 2021 was 33.4% and was 0.3 percentage point lower than in February 2021.
