The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 September 2016 amounted to 514,935. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 5,630 persons or 1.08%.

Unemployment increased in Brčko District of BiH by 13 persons (0.11%), but unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 3,326 persons (0.88%) and in Republika Srpska by 2,317 persons (1.73%).

The structure of job seekers as of 30 September 2016 by educational level was as follows:

137,866 unskilled workers (26.77%),

8,866 semi-skilled workers (1.72%),

171,006 skilled workers (33.21%),

2,554 highly skilled workers (0.50%),

1,388 workers with primary education (0.27%),

144,912 persons with secondary education (28.14%),

7,107 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.38%) and

41,236 persons with university education (8.01%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.21%) and workers with secondary education (28.14%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in September amounted to 22,407 persons, out of which 15,584 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 6,888 persons whose employment terminated and 5,984 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 727,255 in August 2016, out of which 298,093 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was decreased by 0.2% from July 2016.

Registered unemployment rate in August 2016 was 41.7%.
