Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 August 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 August 2019 amounted to 406,848. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 261 persons or 0.06%.
Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 965 persons (0.31%), but decreased in Republika Srpska by 1,070 persons (1.2%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 156 persons (2.06%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 August 2019 by educational level was as follows:
111,788 unskilled workers (27.48%),
7,399 semi-skilled workers (1.82%),
127,945 skilled workers (31.45%),
1,629 highly skilled workers (0.40%),
114,603 persons with secondary education (28.17%),
6,677 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.64%) and
36,807 persons with university education (0.05%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.45%) and workers with secondary education (28.17%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in August amounted to 16,381 persons, out of which 9,287 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 10,583 persons whose employment terminated and 5.352 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 821,791 in July 2019, out of which 351,714 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1% from June 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in July 2019 was 33.1% and it is the same as in June 2019.
