The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 December 2016 amounted to 510,022. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 987 persons or 0.19%.

Unemployment increased in Brčko District of BiH by 76 persons (0.60%), but unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 695 persons (0.19%) and in Republika Srpska by 368 persons (0.29%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 December 2016 by educational level was as follows:

137,072 unskilled workers (26.88%),

8,721 semi-skilled workers (1.71%),

168,960 skilled workers (33.13%),

2,513 highly skilled workers (0.49%),

1,361 workers with primary education (0.27%),

142,777 persons with secondary education (27.99%),

7,172 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.41%) and

41,446 persons with university education (8.13%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.13%) and workers with secondary education (27.99%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in December amounted to 15,232 persons, out of which 8,420 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 7,690 persons whose employment terminated and 3,469 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 738,377 in November 2016, out of which 304,817 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities remained unchanged from October.

Registered unemployment rate in November 2016 was 40.9% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to October 2016.
