Overview of Labour Market Situation On 30 April 2013

On 30 April 2013 549,519 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 4,061 persons or 0.73%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 1,310 persons (0.34%), in Republika Srpska by 2,703 persons (1.74%) and Brčko District BiH by 48 persons (0.38%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 30 April 2013 there were 159,611 unskilled workers or 29.05%, 11,048 semi-skilled workers or 2.01%, 190,601 skilled workers or 34.69%, 3,724 highly skilled workers or 0.68%, 1,780 workers with primary education or 0.32%, 139.883 with secondary education or 25.46%, 7,640 with higher non-university education or 1.39% and 35,232 with university education or 6.41%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.69% and unskilled workers with 29.05%.
The total outflow from PES registers in April amounted to 14,550 persons, out of which 8,713 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 5,833 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,363 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in March 2013 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 648,421 persons, out of which 264,596 were women. The number of persons in paid employment in legal entities, as well as the number of women in paid employment have remained unchanged in comparison to February 2013.
Registered unemployment rate in March 2013 was 46,1%.
