Overview of Labour Market Situation On 30 April 2014

On 30 April 2014 546,739 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 5,713 persons or 1.03%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 3,430 persons (0.88%) in Republika Srpska by 2,081 persons (1.40%) and Brčko District BiH by 202 persons (1.63%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 30 April 2014 there were 152,754 unskilled workers or 27.94%, 10,494 semi-skilled workers or 1.92%, 188,573 skilled workers or 34.49%, 3,386 highly skilled workers or 0.62%, 1,631 workers with primary education or 0.30%, 143,060 with secondary education or 26.17%, 7,739 with higher non-university education or 1.42% and 39,103 with university education or 7.15%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.49% and unskilled workers with 27.94%.
The total outflow from PES registers in April amounted to 16,770 persons, out of which 10,003 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 5,479 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,370 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in March 2014 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 700,667 persons, out of which 289,786 were women. As compared to February 2014, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.4%.
Registered unemployment rate in March 2014 was 44,1%. As compared to February 2014 it was down by 0.3 percentage points.
