On 31 August 2014 552,319 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 3,707 persons or 0.68%.

Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 4,307 persons (1.10%) and Brčko District BiH by 32 persons (0.26%), but was down in Republika Srpska by 632 persons (0.43%).

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 August 2014 there were 150,051 unskilled workers or 27.17%, 10,266 semi-skilled workers or 1.86%, 188,861 skilled workers or 34.19%, 3,341 highly skilled workers or 0.60%, 1,617 workers with primary education or 0.29%, 146,688 with secondary education or 26.56%, 8,069 with higher non-university education or 1.46% and 43,426 with university education or 7.86%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.19% and unskilled workers with 27.17%.

The total outflow from PES registers in August amounted to 13,445 persons, out of which 7,644 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 7,284 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,643 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in July 2014 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 700,659 persons, out of which 289,682 were women. As compared to June 2014, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities remained the same.

Registered unemployment rate in July 2014 was 43.8%. As compared to June 2014 it was increased by 0.1 percentage points.
