Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 January 2016

On 31 January 2016 539,098 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 1,530 persons or 0.28%.
Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 873 persons (0.22%), in Republika Srpska by 764 persons (0.56%) but was down in Brčko District BiH by 117 persons (0.88%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31.01.2016. there were 142,786 unskilled workers or 26.49%, 9,442 semi-skilled workers or 1.75%, 182,077 skilled workers or 33.77%, 2,872 highly skilled workers or 0.53%, 1,477 workers with primary education or 0.27%, 148,670 with secondary education or 27.58%, 7,594 with higher non-university education or 1.41% and 44,180 with university education or 8.20%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 33.77% and workers with secondary education 27.58%.
The total outflow from PES registers in January amounted to 13,852 persons, out of which 7,476 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 7.353 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,711 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in December 2015 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 715,425 persons, out of which 295,478 were women. As compared to November 2015, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.5%.
Registered unemployment rate in December 2015 was 42.9%. As compared to November 2015 it was increased by 0.2%.
