Overview of labour market situation on 31 July 2012

On 31 July 2012 542,310 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 4,318 persons or 0.80%.
Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 3,991 persons (1.07%), in the Republika Srpska by 298 persons (0.20%) and in Brčko District BiH by 29 persons (0.24%)
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 July 2012 there were 160,498 unskilled workers or 29.60%, 11,259 semi-skilled workers or 2.08%, 188,467 skilled workers or 34.75%, 3,750 highly skilled workers or 0.69%, 1,875 workers with primary education or 0.35%, 136,582 with secondary education or 25.19%, 7,568 with higher non-university education or 1.40% and 32,311 with university education or 5.96%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.75% and unskilled workers with 29.60%.
The total outflow from PES registers in July amounted to 12,575 persons, out of which 6,488 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 6,418 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 1,857 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in June 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 690,406 persons, out of which 282,273 were women. As compared to May 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1%.
Registered unemployment rate in June 2012 was 43.8%. As compared to May 2012 it was increased by 0.1 percentage points.
