The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 28 February 2021 was 410 776. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 4 251 persons or 1.02%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 234 012 or 56.97% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 7 888 persons or 1.96%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 3 194 persons (1.02%), in Republika Srpska by 914 persons (1.1%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 143 persons (1.97%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 28 February 2021:

109 843 unskilled workers or 26.74%, of whom 63 948 (25.96%) women;

6 844 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.67%, of whom 3 449 (1.47%) women;

130 603 skilled workers or 31.79%, of whom 60 884 (25.87%) women;

1 496 highly skilled workers or 0.36%, of whom 280 (0.12%) women;

118 300 with secondary education or 28.80%, of whom 75 115 (32.10%) women;

7 070 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.72%, of whom 4 563 (1.95%) women;

36 620 with university degree or 8.91%, of whom 25 773 (11.01%) women.

A total of 16 192 people were deregistered from public employment services in February, of whom 7 987 were women. Out of this number, there were 9 045 flows into employment, of which 4 679 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 8 666 people, of whom 4 104 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 2 147 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in January 2021 stood at 809 667, of whom 349 753 were women.  In comparison to December 2020, the number of people in employment decreased by 0.5% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.5%.

Registered unemployment rate for January 2021 was 33.9% and was 0.2 percentage point higher than in Deceber 2020.
