The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 28 January 2023 was 355 211. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 861 persons or 0.24%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 206 245 or 58.06% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 20 478 persons or 5.45%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 1 558 persons (0.55%), in Republika Srpska by 840 persons (1.3%) but increase in the Brčko District of BiH by 1 537 persons (27.49%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 28 February 2023:
100 270 unskilled workers or 28.23%, of whom 59 430 (28.82%) women;
5 512 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.55%, of whom 2 827 (1.37%) women;
112 169 skilled workers or 31.58%, of whom 53 486 (25.93%) women;
994 highly skilled workers or 0.28%, of whom 202 (0.10%) women;
101 045 with secondary education or 28.45%, of whom 65 588 (31.80%) women;
5 813 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.64%, of whom 3 842 (1.86%) women;
29 408 with university degree or 8.28%, of whom 20 870 (10.12%) women.
A total of 16 505 people were deregistered from public employment services in February, of whom 7 474 were women. Out of this number, there were 7 697 flows into employment, of which 4 012 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 6 767 people, of whom 3 130 were women. In the same period, employers reported 3 470 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in January 2022 stood at 850 916, of whom 382 683 were women. In comparison to December 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.7% and the number of employed women increased by 1.0%.
Registered unemployment rate for January 2022 was 29.5% and was same than in December 2022.
