The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 28 February 2019 amounted to 430,053. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 3,385 persons or 0.78%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 2,237 persons (0.68%), in Republika Srpska by 887 persons (0.93%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 261 persons (2.90%).

The structure of job seekers as of 28 February 2019 by educational level was as follows:

118,187 unskilled workers (27.48%),

8.057 semi-skilled workers and  workers with primary education (1.87%),

138,219 skilled workers (32.14%),

1,831 highly skilled workers (0.43%), 

121,242 persons with secondary education (28.19%),

6,592 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.53%) and

35,925 persons with university education (8.35%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.14%) and workers with secondary education (28.19%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in February amounted to 16,815 persons, out of which 10,404 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 6,369 persons whose employment terminated and 5,004 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in BiH amounted to 823,455 in January 2019, out of which 353,914 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.7% from December 2018.

Registered unemployment rate in January 2019 was 34.5% which is a drop of 0.2 percentage point in comparison to December 2018.
