Labour market overview, situation as of 30 June 2021

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 June 2021 was 393 781. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 2 218 persons or 0.56%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 226 132 or 57.43% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 27 519 persons or 6.53%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 363 persons (0.12%), in Republika Srpska by 1 774 persons (2.29%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 81 persons (1.19%)
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 June 2021:
106 111 unskilled workers or 26.95%, of whom 62 250 (27.53%) women;
6 418 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.63%, of whom 3 271 (1.45%) women;
124 551 skilled workers or 31.63%, of whom 58 692 (25,95%) women;
1 374 highly skilled workers or 0.35%, of whom 250 (0.11%) women;
113 925 with secondary education or 28.93%, of whom 72 717 (32.16%) women;
6 792 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.72%, of whom 4 432 (1.96%) women;
34 610 with university degree or 8.79%, of whom 24 520 (10.84%) women.
A total of 17 475 people were deregistered from public employment services in June, of whom 8 459 were women. Out of this number, there were 12 086 flows into employment, of which 6 104 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 8 194 people, of whom 3 931 were women. In the same period, employers reported 4 754 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in May 2021 stood at 815 590, of whom 353 243 were women. In comparison to April 2021, the number of people in employment increased by 0.3% and the number of employed women decreased by 1,0%.
Registered unemployment rate for May 2021 was 32.7% and was 0.4 percentage point lower than in April 2021.
