The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 30 June 2020 was 421 300. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 174 persons or 0.04%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 240 235 or 57.02% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was higher by 15 824 persons or 3.9%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 276 persons (0.09%), and in Republika Srpska by 39 persons (0.04%) but increased in the Brčko District of BiH by 141 persons (2.06%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 30 June 2020:

112 429 unskilled workers or 26.69%, of whom 65 902 (27.43%) women;

7 142 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.70%, of whom 3 614 (1.50%) women;

133 112 skilled workers or 31.60%, of whom 61 973 (25.80%) women;

1 547 highly skilled workers or 0.37%, of whom 274 (0.11%) women;

122 893 with secondary education or 29.17%, of whom 77 867 (32.41%) women;

6 970 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.65%, of whom 4 500 (1.87%) women;

37 207 with university degree or 8.83%, of whom 26 105 (10.87%) women.

A total of 18 082 people were deregistered from public employment services in june, of whom    9 097 were women. Out of this number, there were 13 643 flows into employment, of which       6 913 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 10 026 people, of whom 5 096 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 2 752 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in May 2020 stood at 808 868, of whom 348 698 were women.  In comparison to April 2020, the number of people in employment is same and the number of employed women increased by 0.2%.

Registered unemployment rate for April 2020 was 34.3% and was 0.1 percentage point higher than in March 2020.
