On 31 August 2013 555,820 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 2,831 persons or 0.51%.

Unemployment was down in the Republika Srpska by 784 persons (0.12%), and in Brčko District BiH by 36 persons (0.29%), but was increased in the Federation of BiH by 3,651 persons (1.93%)

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 August 2013 there were 156,338 unskilled workers or 28.13%, 10,842 semi-skilled workers or 1.95%, 191,019 skilled workers or 34.37%, 3,700 highly skilled workers or 0.67%, 1,708 workers with primary education or 0.31%, 143.394 with secondary education or 25.80%, 8,124 with higher non-university education or 1.46% and 40,695 with university education or 7.32%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.37% and unskilled workers with 28.13%.

The total outflow from PES registers in August amounted to 12,101 persons, out of which 6,570 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 7,384 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,942 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in July 2013 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 685,773 persons, out of which 281,448 were women. As compared to June 2013, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.1%.

Registered unemployment rate in July 2013 was 44.6%.
