Labour market overview, situation as of 31 August 2021

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 August 2021 was 392 551. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 2 832 persons or 0.72%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 226 537 or 57.71% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 35 042 persons or 8.20%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 1 556 persons (0.5%), in Republika Srpska by 1 195 persons (1.59%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 81 persons (1.21%)
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 August 2021:
104 670 unskilled workers or 26.66%, of whom 61 487 (27.14%) women;
6 262 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.60%, of whom 3 191 (1.41%) women;
123 150 skilled workers or 31.37%, of whom 58 023 (25,61%) women;
1 350 highly skilled workers or 0.34%, of whom 249 (0.11%) women;
112 541 with secondary education or 28.67%, of whom 71 893 (31.74%) women;
7 140 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.82%, of whom 4 737 (2.09%) women;
37 438 with university degree or 9.54%, of whom 26 957 (11.90%) women.
A total of 20 492 people were deregistered from public employment services in August, of whom 9 711 were women. Out of this number, there were 9 852 flows into employment, of which 5 114 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 9 157 people, of whom 4 703 were women. In the same period, employers reported 5 057 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in July 2021 stood at 819 857, of whom 355 131 were women. In comparison to June 2021, the number of people in employment decreased by 0.1% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.3%.
Registered unemployment rate for July 2021 was 32.5% and was 0.1 percentage point higher than in June 2021.
