The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 August 2016 amounted to 520,565. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 500 persons or 0.10%.

Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,748 persons (0.46%), but unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 1,146 persons (0.87%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 102 persons (0.85%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 August 2016 by educational level was as follows:

138,493 unskilled workers (26.60%),

8,940 semi-skilled workers (1.72%),

171,894 skilled workers (33.02%),

2,651 highly skilled workers (0.51%),

1,401 workers with primary education (0.27%),

144,436 persons with secondary education (27.75%),

7,576 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.46%) and

45,174 persons with university education (8.68%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.02%) and workers with secondary education (27.75%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in August amounted to 17,062 persons, out of which 10,698 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 9,436 persons whose employment terminated and 6,746 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 728,668 in July 2016, out of which 299,249 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1% from June 2016.

Registered unemployment rate in July 2016 was 41.6%. As compared to June 2016 it was same.
