Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 December 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 December 2017 amounted to 475,084. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 465 persons or 0.10%.
Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 983 persons (0.85%) but was increased in Federation of BiH by 473 persons (0.13%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 45 persons (0.41%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 December 2017 by educational level was as follows:
129,175 unskilled workers (27.19%),
8,025 semi-skilled workers (1.69%),
155,170 skilled workers (32.66%),
2,220 highly skilled workers (0.47%),
1,211 workers with primary education (0.25%),
133,114 persons with secondary education (28.02%),
6,873 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.45%) and
39,296 persons with university education (8.27%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.66%) and workers with secondary education (28.02%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in December amounted to 14,822 persons, out of which 8,526 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 8,194 persons whose employment terminated and 4,616 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 754,817 in October 2017, out of which 315,706 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.1% from October 2017.
Registered unemployment rate in November 2017 was 38,6% which is a drop of 0.2 percentage point in comparison to October 2017.
