The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 December 2021 was 375 804. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 2 275 persons or 0.6%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 216 69 or 57.64% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 37 823 persons or 9.14%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 1 796 persons (0.60%), in Republika Srpska by 489 persons (0.69%) but in the Brčko District of BiH unemployment increased  by 10 persons (0.16%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 December 2021:

101 850 unskilled workers or 27.10%, of whom 59 741 (27.58%) women;

6 018 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.60%, of whom 3 065 (1.41%) women;

118 448 skilled workers or 31.52%, of whom 56 149 (25,92%) women;

1 235 highly skilled workers or 0.33%, of whom 226 (0.10%) women;

107 891 with secondary education or 28.71%, of whom 69 194 (31.94%) women;

6 671 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.78%, of whom 4 377 (2.02%) women;

33 691 with university degree or 8.97%, of whom 23 857 (11.01%) women.

A total of 19 106 people were deregistered from public employment services in December, of whom 8 967 were women. Out of this number, there were 7 889 flows into employment, of which 4 064 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 340 people, of whom 4 089 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 4 604 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in November 2021 stood at 834 970, of whom 365 567 were women.  In comparison to October 2021, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.4% and the number of employed women increased by 0.7%.

Registered unemployment rate for November 2021 was 31.2% and was 0.3 percentage point lower than in October 2021.
