Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 January 2013

On 31 January 2014 557,314 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 3,833 persons or 0.69%.
Unemployment was increased in Federation of BiH by 2,914 persons (0.74%), in the Republika Srpska by 909 persons (0.61%) and in Brcko District by 10 persons (0.08).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 January 2014 there were 155,376 unskilled workers or 27.88%, 10,747 semi-skilled workers or 1.93%, 192,763 skilled workers or 34.59%, 3,601 highly skilled workers or 0.65%, 1,666 workers with primary education or 0.30%, 145.599 with secondary education or 26.13%, 7,850 with higher non-university education or 1.41% and 39,712 with university education or 7.13%.
The total outflow from PES registers in January amounted to 11,714 persons, out of which 5,928 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 7,735 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 3,110 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in December 2013 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 689,270 persons, out of which 285,022 were women. As compared to November 2013, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.2%.
Registered unemployment rate in December 2013 was 44.5%.
