The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 August 2022 was 360 434. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 1 340 persons or 0.37%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 209 428 or 58.10% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 32 117 persons or 8.19%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 326 persons (0.11%), in Republika Srpska by 963 persons (1.45%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 51 (0.97%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 August 2022:

98 655 unskilled workers or 27.37%, of whom 58 169 (27.78%) women;

5 586 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.55%, of whom 2 849 (1.36%) women;

113 112 skilled workers or 31.38%, of whom 53 647 (25,62%) women;

1 103 highly skilled workers or 0.31%, of whom 213 (0.10%) women;

102 525 with secondary education or 28.44%, of whom 66 355 (31.68%) women;

6 220 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.73%, of whom 4 146 (1.98%) women;

33 233 with university degree or 9.22%, of whom 24 049 (11.48 %) women.

A total of 20 137 people were deregistered from public employment services in August, of whom 9 408 were women. Out of this number, there were 8 850 flows into employment, of which 4 576 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 8 523 people, of whom 4 300 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 8 828 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in July 2022 stood at 837 244, of whom 371 099 were women.  In comparison to June 2022, the number of people in employment was decreased by 0.3% and the number of employed women decreased by 0.4%.

Registered unemployment rate for July 2022 was 30.2% and was 0.2 percentage point higher than in

June 2022.
