On 31 August 2012 545,881 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was increased by 3,571 persons or 0.66%.

Unemployment was increased in the Federation of BiH by 3,472 persons (0.92%), in the Republika Srpska by 16 persons (0.01%) and in Brčko District BiH by 83 persons (0.68%)

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 August 2012 there were 160,331 unskilled workers or 29.37%, 11,202 semi-skilled workers or 2.05%, 189,085 skilled workers or 34.64%, 3,766 highly skilled workers or 0.69%, 1,865 workers with primary education or 0.34%, 137,295 with secondary education or 25.15%, 7,893 with higher non-university education or 1.45% and 34,444 with university education or 6.31%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.64% and unskilled workers with 29.37%.

The total outflow from PES registers in August amounted to 11,621 persons, out of which 5,795 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 7,073 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,130 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in July 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 688,982 persons, out of which 281,372 were women. As compared to June 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.2%.

Registered unemployment rate in July 2012 was 43.9%. As compared to June 2012 it was increased by 0.1 percentage points.
