Overview of Labour Market Situation On 31 May 2013

On 31 May 2013 547,325 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 2, 941 persons or 0.40%.
Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 1,268 persons (0.33%), in Republika Srpska by 923 persons (0.61%) and Brčko District BiH by 3 persons (0.02%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 May 2013 there were 158,848 unskilled workers or 29.02%, 11,002 semi-skilled workers or 2.01%, 189,236 skilled workers or 34.57%, 3,728 highly skilled workers or 0.68%, 1,765 workers with primary education or 0.32%, 139.233 with secondary education or 25.44%, 7,651 with higher non-university education or 1.40% and 35,862 with university education or 6.55%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.57% and unskilled workers with 29.02%.
The total outflow from PES registers in May amounted to 12,787 persons, out of which 7,376 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 5,738 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,467 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in April 2013 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 648,656 persons, out of which 281,641 were women. The number of persons in paid employment in legal entities employment have remained unchanged in comparison to March 2013.
Registered unemployment rate in April 2013 was 44.5%.
