The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 May 2017 amounted to 487,424. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 7,981 persons or 1.61%.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 5.519 persons (1.53%) in Republika Srpska by 2,270 persons (1.84%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 192 persons (1.68%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 May 2017 by educational level was as follows:

133,405 unskilled workers (27.37%),

8,310 semi-skilled workers (1.70%),

161,314 skilled workers (33.10%),

2,420 highly skilled workers (0.50%),

1,292 workers with primary education (0.27%),

134,765 persons with secondary education (27.65%),

6,884 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.41%) and

39,034 persons with university education (8.01%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.10%) and workers with secondary education (27.65%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in May amounted to 20,041 persons, out of which 13,419 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 6,756 persons whose employment terminated and 5,684 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 753,975 in March 2017, out of which 316,601 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.5% from March 2017.

Registered unemployment rate in April 2017 was 39,6% which is a drop of 0.5 percentage point in comparison to March 2017.
