Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 March 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 March 2017 amounted to 501,522. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 8,385 persons or 1.64%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 6,660 persons (1.79%) in Republika Srpska by 1,568 persons (1.24%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 157 persons (1.32%).
The structure of job seekers as of 28 February 2017 by educational level was as follows:
135,844 unskilled workers (27.09%),
8,589 semi-skilled workers (1.71%),
166,350 skilled workers (33.17%),
2,449 highly skilled workers (0.50%),
1,333 workers with primary education (0.27%),
139,623 persons with secondary education (27.84%),
7,016 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.40%) and
40,268 persons with university education (8.03%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.17%) and workers with secondary education (27.84%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in March amounted to 21,842 persons, out of which 15,270 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 6,673 persons whose employment terminated and 6,359 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 747,516 in February 2017, out of which 313,778 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.3% from January 2017.
Registered unemployment rate in February 2017 was 40.5% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to January 2017.
