Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 October 2019

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 October 2019 amounted to 401,342. Compared to the previous month, unemployment decreased by 2,013 persons or 0.50%.
Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 1,179 persons (0.41%), in Republika Srpska by 666 persons (0.77%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 68 persons (0.94%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 October 2019 by educational level was as follows:
110,655 unskilled workers (27.57%),
7,260 semi-skilled workers (1.81%),
126,884 skilled workers (31.61%),
1,558 highly skilled workers (0.39%),
114,455 persons with secondary education (28.52%),
6,350 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.58%) and
34,180 persons with university education (8.52%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (31.61%) and workers with secondary education (28.52%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in October amounted to 21,819 persons, out of which 13,158 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 11,665 persons whose employment terminated and 5.082 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 822,259 in September 2019, out of which 353,520 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.7% from August 2018.
Registered unemployment rate in September 2019 was 32.9% which is a drop of 0.3 percentage point in comparison to August 2019.
