The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 October 2021 was 382 348. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 1 861 persons or 0.48%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 220 031 or 57.55% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 32 054 persons or 7.74%.

Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 803 persons (0.26%), in Republika Srpska by 763 persons (1.06%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 295 persons (4.49%)

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 October 2021:

102 992 unskilled workers or 26.94%, of whom 60 536 (27.51%) women;

6 088 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.59%, of whom 3 110 (1.41%) women;

120 750 skilled workers or 31.58%, of whom 57 106 (25,95%) women;

1 279 highly skilled workers or 0.33%, of whom 239 (0.11%) women;

110 896 with secondary education or 29.00%, of whom 70 868 (32.21%) women;

6 700 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.75%, of whom 4 395 (2.00%) women;

33 643 with university degree or 8.80%, of whom 23 777 (10.81%) women.

A total of 19 805 people were deregistered from public employment services in October, of whom 9.467 were women. Out of this number, there were 8 909 flows into employment, of which 4 641 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 9 167 people, of whom 4 450 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 4 349 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in September 2021 stood at 826 526, of whom 361 077 were women.  In comparison to August 2021, the number of people in employment increased by 1.0% and the number of employed women increased by 1.9%.

Registered unemployment rate for September 2021 was 31.7% and was 0.7 percentage point lower than in August 2021.
