Overview of labour market situation on 31 March 2012

On 31 March 2012 542,726 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 4,579 persons or 0.85%.
Unemployment has increased in Republika Srpska by 103 persons (0.07%), but unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 998 persons (0.27%) and in the Brčko District BiH by 82 persons (0.66%).
In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 March 2012 there were 162,729 unskilled workers or 29.98%, 11,475 semi-skilled workers or 2.11%, 189,527 skilled workers or 34.92%, 3,915 highly skilled workers or 0.72%, 1,920 workers with primary education or 0.35%, 135,399 with secondary education or 24.95%, 7,546 with higher non-university education or 1.39% and 30,216 with university education or 5.57%.
The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.92% and unskilled workers with 29.98%.
The total outflow from PES registers in March amounted to 13,135 persons, out of which 7,382 persons were employed.
At the same time, there were 5,630 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,849 vacancies in this period.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in February 2012 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 687,138 persons, out of which 281,671 were women. As compared to January 2012, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was down by 0.2%.
Registered unemployment rate in February 2012 was 44.2%. As compared to January 2012 it was increased by 0.2 percentage points.
