The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 December 2022 was 354 323. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 377 persons or 0.11%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 205 870 or 58.10% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 21 481 persons or 5.72%.

Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 673 persons (1.04) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 20 persons (0.41%), but increase in Federation of BiH by 316 persons (0.11%).

Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 December 2022:

99 116 unskilled workers or 27.97%, of whom 58 831 (28.58%) women;

5 499 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.55%, of whom 2 825 (1.37%) women;

111 901 skilled workers or 31.58%, of whom 53 355 (25.92%) women;

1 027 highly skilled workers or 0.29%, of whom 209 (0.10%) women;

101 122 with secondary education or 28.54%, of whom 65 571 (31.85%) women;

5 923 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.67%, of whom 3 892 (1.89%) women;

29 735 with university degree or 8.35%, of whom 21 187 (10.29%) women.

A total of 17 690 people were deregistered from public employment services in December, of whom 8 346  were women. Out of this number, there were 6 810 flows into employment, of which 3 495 were women. 

At the same time employment terminated for 8 912 people, of whom 4 264 were women.  In the same period, employers reported 5 014 vacancies. 

According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in November 2022 stood at 846 912, of whom 379 275 were women.  In comparison to October 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by0.1% and the number of employed women increased by 0.3%.

Registered unemployment rate for November 2022 was 29.5% and was 0.2 percentage point lower than in October 2022.
