The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 30 June 2016 amounted to 520,065. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 2,031 persons or 0.39%.

Unemployment increased in the Federation of BiH by 2,530 persons (0.68%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 615 persons (0.48%), but unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 1,114 persons (0.84%).

The structure of job seekers as of 31 July 2016 by educational level was as follows:

139,142 unskilled workers (26.75%),

8,992 semi-skilled workers (1.73%),

172,550 skilled workers (33.18%),

2,681 highly skilled workers (0.52%),

1,403 workers with primary education (0.27%),

144,581 persons with secondary education (27.80%),

7,409 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.42%) and

43,307 persons with university education (8.33%).

The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (33.18%) and workers with secondary education (27.80%).

The total outflow from unemployment registers in July amounted to 16,239 persons, out of which 10,284 persons due to employment.

At the same time, there were 7,045 persons whose employment terminated and 4,832 vacancies notified by employers. 

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 728,121 in June 2016, out of which 299,830 were women.  The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.8% from May 2016.

Registered unemployment rate in June 2016 was 41.6% which is a drop of 0.1 percentage point in comparison to May 2016.
