Overview of Labour Market Situation as of 31 July 2017

The number of persons registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 31 July 2017 amounted to 486,309. Compared to the previous month, unemployment increased by 421 persons or 0.09%.
Unemployment decreased in Republika Srpska by 1,140 persons (0.95%) and in Brčko District of BiH by 6 persons (0.05%), but increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,567 persons (0.44%).
The structure of job seekers as of 31 July 2017 by educational level was as follows:
131,388 unskilled workers (27.02%),
8,246 semi-skilled workers (1.70%),
159,310 skilled workers (32.76%),
2,366 highly skilled workers (0.49%),
1,245 workers with primary education (0.26%),
135,186 persons with secondary education (27.80%),
6,967 persons with two-year post-secondary education (1.43%) and
41,601 persons with university education (8.55%).
The largest share in registered unemployment continues to be made up of persons with third level of education: skilled workers (32.76%) and workers with secondary education (27.80%).
The total outflow from unemployment registers in July amounted to 18,250 persons, out of which 12,021 persons due to employment.
At the same time, there were 8,300 persons whose employment terminated and 5,249 vacancies notified by employers.
According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 747,759 in June 2017, out of which 311,393 were women. The total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.6% from May 2017.
Registered unemployment rate in June 2017 was 39,4% which is a drop of 0.2 percentage point in comparison to May 2017.
