Labour market overview, situation as of 31 May 2022

The number of unemployed people registered with public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 31 May 2022 was 360 511. As compared to a month earlier, this number was lower by 5 367 persons or 1.47%. Out of the total number of job seekers, 208 491 or 57.83% were women. In comparison to the same period of the year earlier, unemployment in BiH was lower by 35 488 persons or 8.96%.
Unemployment decreased in Federation of BiH by 4 106 persons (1.41%), in Republika Srpska by 1 136 persons (1.63%) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 125 (2.3%).
Job seekers by qualification levels, situation as of 31 May 2022:
99 900 unskilled workers or 27.71%, of whom 58 814 (28.21%) women;
5 776 semi-skilled workers – lower educational background or 1.60%, of whom 2 941 (1.41%) women;
113 687 skilled workers or 31.53%, of whom 54 014 (25,91%) women;
1 143 highly skilled workers or 0.32%, of whom 204 (0.10%) women;
102 255 with secondary education or 28.36%, of whom 66 103 (31.71%) women;
6 086 with two-year post-secondary education or 1.69%, of whom 3 987 (1.91%) women;
31 664 with university degree or 8.78%, of whom 22 428 (10.76 %) women.
A total of 20 247 people were deregistered from public employment services in May, of whom 9 205 were women. Out of this number, there were 9 764 flows into employment, of which 4 752 were women.
At the same time employment terminated for 8 334 people, of whom 3 773 were women. In the same period, employers reported 3 378 vacancies.
According to BiH Agency for Statistics, the number of people in employment in BiH in April 2022 stood at 843 194, of whom 375 411 were women. In comparison to March 2022, the number of people in employment was increased by 0.2% and the number of employed women increased by 0.5%.
Registered unemployment rate for April 2022 was 30.3% and was 0.4 percentage point lower than in
March 2022.
