On 31 Maj 2014 544,594 persons were registered as unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed was down by 2,145 persons or 0.39%.

Unemployment was down in the Federation of BiH by 1,607 persons (0.41%) in Republika Srpska by 373 persons (0.26%) and Brčko District BiH by 165 persons (1. 63%).

In occupational structure of job seekers as on 31 May 2014 there were 152,150 unskilled workers or 27.94%, 10,445 semi-skilled workers or 1.92%, 187,708 skilled workers or 34.47%, 3,368 highly skilled workers or 0.62%, 1,629 workers with primary education or 0.30%, 142,421 with secondary education or 26.15%, 7,727 with higher non-university education or 1.42% and 39,146 with university education or 7.19%.

The largest share in registered unemployment is still made up of persons with third level of education – skilled workers with 34.47% and unskilled workers with 27.94%.

The total outflow from PES registers in May amounted to 11,653 persons, out of which 6,644 persons were employed.

At the same time, there were 4,714 persons whose employment terminated while employers registered with PES 2,417 vacancies in this period.

According to data of the BiH Agency for Statistics, in April 2014 the number of persons in paid employment in legal entities in BiH amounted to 704,477 persons, out of which 291,013 were women. As compared to March 2014, the total number of persons in paid employment in legal entities was increased by 0.5%.

Registered unemployment rate in April 2014 was 43,7%. As compared to March 2014 it was down by 0.4 percentage points.
