Better employment conditions in Slovenia

Representatives of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Employment Service of Slovenia held a two-day working meeting on September 27 – 28 2011 in Ljubljana in order to prepare the implementation of the Agreement between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on employment of BiH nationals in Slovenia and the Protocol to implement the Agreement.

The Agreement introduces the novelty in regulating migration flows between the two countries so that in line with the Agreement job brokering will be conducted exclusively via responsible institutions.  In this way, the level of protection of workers accessing the Slovenian labour market will be raised as they will enjoy protection of employment services of both countries and employment will no longer be conducted via informal networks.  The Agreement also guarantees more job vacancies and immediate contact between employers and workers and workers will be acquainted with working and living conditions in Slovenia.

Due to the fact that this way of recruitment brings in increased workload to both parties and has an influence on the workload of entity-level employment services along with cantonal-level services, both institutions gave mutual guarantees that responsible services would be prepared for efficient implementation of the Protocol by the end of the year.  During the meeting, the parties defined the procedure for implementation of the Agreement and recruitment procedure and proposed to organize a training workshop in Slovenia for employees of the BiH employment services aimed at transferring certain experiences of Slovenian partners.
