IOM and Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sign Memorandum to Enhance Migration Collaboration



Today, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. This significant agreement aims to enhance collaboration in promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration.

The Memorandum is the culmination of intensive cooperation and the identification of areas of mutual interest that require improved coordination, information exchange, and capacity building.

Statement, Ivan Barbalić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The collaboration will encompass several key areas, including:

·         Enhancing Regular Migration Pathways through the implementation of targeted activities that promote better protection of migrants' rights and contribute to greater prosperity in the countries of origin and the host countries.

·         Strengthening International Employment Standards through regularly coordinated activities related to the application of international standards and policies in the field of employment.

·         Capacity Building through joint planning and implementation of training programs that will enhance skills and capabilities to meet international obligations and align with priorities in the EU integration process.

·         Research, Analysis, and Data Collection through strengthening tools for data collection and exchange, conducting joint research and analyses on topics of mutual interest, which will inform the work of relevant institutions and contribute to improving practices in migration management.

The signing of this Memorandum demonstrates a commitment to establishing a partnership through systematic and sustainable work on identifying potentials and challenges in the field of labor migration in BiH.
