International Conference on Public Employment Services and Entrepreneurship: A Challenge for Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development



Representatives of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH attended the international conference Public Employment Services and Entrepreneurship: a Challenge for Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development organised by the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) and the Tunisian National Agency for Employment and Self-employment (ANETI) on 22^nd and 23^rd February 2024 in Tunis.

The conference explored the role of public employment services from the perspective of using new tools and methods of support to entrepreneurial development as one of the key drivers of economic development in countries worldwide.

Entrepreneurial development is seen as effective way of dealing with the complexities of the labour market as it offers integration opportunities for young graduates entering the labour market each year, contributes directly to the reduction of informal employment and promotes social dimension of entrepreneurship through reducing inequality and discrimination by facilitating access to support tools and programmes for the most vulnerable groups (promoting female entrepreneurship, creating integration activities for young people experiencing difficulties or people with disabilities, etc.).

Entrepreneurship plays a leading role in driving innovation, seizing the opportunities offered by the development of digital technologies and the emergence of a new economy and new forms of work, as well as in future challenges related to climate and demographic changes.

In conclusion of the conference it was said that promotion and support to entrepreneurs who are translating ideas into new jobs is a priority for economic development and that many actors must be included in this process, including public employment services.
