Mr. Muamer Bandić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Mr. Alexander Wilhelm, Director of International Relations at the Federal Employment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany signed on 1st June 2022 in Berlin the Annex to the Cooperation Agreement for the Project “Skilled Crafts offer a Future” (HabiZu) which allows the cooperation in the mentioned project to continue.

The idea of HabiZu is to give opportunities to unemployed electricians, metal workers and plant mechanics for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology to gain contemporary skills and knowledge consistent with the German educational and professional standards during their work in Germany and thus enhance their competencies for the domestic labour market upon their return to Bosnia and Herzegovina.  During the past three years of the pilot phase of the project, 34 people took advantage of this opportunity.  The project has thus contributed to professional development of our citizens and offered them opportunities of better and faster employment in BiH which is why the future cooperation under the project has now been agreed.

The project is being implemented by the International Relations Department of the Federal Employment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) on the German part and by the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and public employment services of FBiH, RS and BD BiH on the BiH part.

On the same day, the parties discussed the recruitment procedure of nurses.  In efforts to improve the rights at work and protection of our citizens working in Germany, Director Bandić has negotiated a new standard employment contract that has been updated to comply with the new German regulations and international standards for ethically responsible employment.

The parties also discussed the current situation in the labour markets of the two countries and the cooperation in other fields and projects.
