Muamer Bandić: Workers going abroad should take caution lest they be drawn into illegal employment. If they are not familiar with employment procedures, they should contact the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH



Concerning the information on deceits committed against our workers in Slovenia published in the media yesterday and today, the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH announces herewith that the company mentioned in the media has not hired workers from BiH under the Employment Agreement and that the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH has never received any job advertisement form that company.  Muamer Bandić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH explains: “Workers can take legal employment in Slovenia under the Employment Agreement concluded with the Republic of Slovenia only if the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH and the Slovenian Employment Service are involved in the job placement process.  In order to complete the job placement process, we first have to receive a job offer, i.e. a job advertisement and the name of the candidate to be placed in that respective job.  If there is no job advertisement, there is also no job placement procedure and thereby no legal employment.  If the information published in the media is true, we are talking about a case where law has been breached by both parties: the employer and the worker.”

“The published text states that the workers first went to Slovenia where, as mentioned, their “paperwork was being done” and that only after that they signed a contract of employment.  The procedure for employment abroad starts with an employment contract or a written statement made by employer in which he expresses his wish to hire a specific worker and then the issuance of a work permit and eventually a work visa follows.  Once the work visa has been issued, the worker can go to another country.  This is why we have repeatedly advised workers taking employment abroad to contact the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH in order to avoid the possibility of being deceived”, said Director Bandić.
