Muamer Bandić, Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH met with Her Excellency Christiane Hohmann, Ambassador of the FR Germany to BiH at the German Embassy in Sarajevo. The topic of the meeting was the recent announcement of the German Embassy that the ÖSD language certificates will no longer be acceptable in the process of issuing work visas for Germany.

“We have been receiving a large number of queries from the candidates lately on the status of the ÖSD German language certificates.  At the same time, the German Embassy has published the decision on its website that the ÖSD German language certificates will not be accepted until further notice and we wanted to obtain the relevant information through a meeting so as to be able to timely inform all candidates applying for work in Germany. We were provided with the necessary information in the meeting and the final decision of the German authorities is that the ÖSD German language certificates will no longer be acceptable as of 1st June”, said Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH.

“At the moment we have about 270 applicants in the processing phase who have submitted their applications under the applicable procedure and many of them have the ÖSD German language certificates.  If they complete the entire procedure in Germany by 1st June, it is realistic to expect that they will be granted work visas.  Also, it is realistic to expect that all candidates who submit their applications to the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH by the end of March will obtain the required documents from Germany by 1st June and thus will be able to make an appointment at the German Embassy to apply for visa before the said deadline.  However, all candidates whose applications will be reaching the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH during the month of April and beyond will be informed that they will probably not be able to obtain the work visa by the said deadline and that they will need the German language certificate issued by the Goethe Institute”, explained Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH.
