On May 20 and 21, 2026, Sarajevo will host the European Regional Conference of WAPES

The Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the European Region of the World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES), is organizing a conference entitled:

“Enhancing Skills for Public Employment Services – Challenges and Opportunities in a Transforming Labour Market”

At a time when digital and green transitions, artificial intelligence, and demographic changes are transforming the labour market faster than ever, public employment services play a key role in connecting people, skills, and opportunities.

The conference will bring together leaders of public employment services, policymakers, researchers, international organizations, and partners from across Europe to discuss:

🔹 Labour and skills shortages

🔹 The future of work and the digitalization of services

🔹 Recognition of skills and labour mobility

🔹 The role of AI in public employment services

🔹 Strengthening cooperation between institutions, the education sector, and employers

Through three thematic panels, the conference will offer strategic insights, examples of good practice, and a platform for the exchange of experiences and innovations.

We look forward to a joint dialogue on the future of the labour market and the development of modern, inclusive, and digitally empowered public employment services.
