Opening EU membership talks can give a fresh impetus to BiH labour market



Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivan Barbalić, met today with Director of the Directorate for European Integration, Elvira Habota.

Following the initial exchange of information on the activities of the two state institutions, the discussion was focused on the activities that lead to the recommendation of the European Commission to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the responsibilities to be assumed by the institutions once the negotiations start.  Director Barbalić gave his full support to all activities and said that the Agency was willing, within its powers, to participate in the processes leading to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the European Union. It was agreed to intensify the cooperation of the two institutions in addressing the issues and requests awaiting Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fields of labour and employment and underlined that the start of negotiations was expected to give a fresh impetus to the domestic labour market.
