02/13/2013
A press conference was held today in the premises of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina aimed at presenting the labour market indicators for 2012 and announcing the activities of the Agency in the upcoming period.
The current number of 550,574 unemployed persons registered with PES has hit the record high, said Adnan Delić, the Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addressing the press representatives, Mr. Delić said that the year 2012 was a record year in many respects. It was the year when registered unemployment reached an all-time high, but also the year with the largest number of outflows from PES registers into jobs (80,373) and the largest number of persons whose employment terminated on all accounts (96,452).
Unskilled and skilled workforce still accounts for one third of the registered unemployment.
The employment of workers from BiH abroad was also the topic of the conference. It was stressed that the Agreement on Employment in Slovenia will enter into force on 01 March and the Agreement with the German Federal Employment Agency, which provides for employment of medical staff (nurses) in that country, should be signed within the next thirty days. It was also stressed that the activities related to the negotiation of the Agreement on Employment in Qatar should continue beginning of March, when a delegation of the State of Qatar will be visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to get an insight into the skills of job seekers registered with BiH PES.
