Deputy Director meets Attaché for Labour and Social Affairs of the Austrian Embassy in Sarajevo

Željko Rajić, Deputy Director of the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with Mr. Oliver Hiller, Attaché for Labour and Social Affairs in the Embassy of the Republic of Austria. 

Mr. Hiller has been active in the labour market of Bosnia and Herzegovina for many years.  He has made significant contribution in establishing of closer ties between the institutions of the Republic of Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina responsible for labour and employment which resulted in the signing of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Austrian Employment Service and the Labour and Employment Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2013.  The Protocol constitutes the formal and legal basis for cooperation, exchange of information, knowledge and experience between the two state institutions.  

It was stressed that the Austrian Embassy and Mr. Hiller have played significant role in taking of initiatives and a number of activities in employment of disabled persons, vocational education, retraining, self-employment etc. which involved state and entity-level institutions.  Owing to these activities, the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection has organised, together with domestic institutions, several conferences, workshops and study visits which tackled some of major topics concerning the pressing issues in the labour market of Bosnia and Herzegovina.    

As regards future joint projects, it was agreed to launch an initiative towards organising one or more round tables on the most pressing issues from the field of labour and social policy which would involve the countries from the region.
