Following the invitation of the UN Secretary General sent through the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, the presentation of the Second Periodic Report on Implementation of the International Convention of the Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers and Members of their Families in BiH was held on 11 – 12 September 2012 in Geneva.  The BiH delegation was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, Ministry of Security of BiH and the Labour and Employment Agency of BiH. 

During the examination of the Periodic Report the BiH delegation answered the questions of the members of the UN Committee on Rights of Migrant Workers concerning the part of the Convention related to the following: single data collection system, official estimate of the number of migrant workers and members of their families in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of issued work permits, social security and employment agreements between Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries, methods in implementation of training, retraining and skills-upgrading programmes used by public employment services, rights of foreign workers and members of their families arising from work, residence permits, work permits, legal and practical measures taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure rights enshrined in Part II of the Convention to migrant workers and members of their families who are considered as non-documented or in an irregular situation, applications filed for residence permits and asylum, deprivation of residence permits, expulsion, lodging claims against expulsion, care of BiH diaspora, measures taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina in assisting BiH workers living abroad to exercise their right to vote and be elected at elections in their country, measures in force facilitating integration of children of migrant workers in local education systems across Bosnia and Herzegovina, regulations governing employment of foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, authority responsible for coordination of activities of public employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its means of coordination, relationship between public employment services and private placement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, detailed information on bilateral agreements on social insurance signed by Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning entitlements to retirement, health care, child benefits and other aspects of social insurance, and measures taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina to prevent  detention of personal documents by employers or official agency for employment of migrant workers etc.  

In conclusion, Mr El Jamri, the Committee Chairperson, thanked to the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for being good ambassadors of their country and professionally done work and accurate answers stressing that such practice should continue in the future.
