History

Although the first regulation on services in the field of work and employment in Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted in 1900, the official date of establishment of employment services is 04.04.1909. year, when the Order on labor mediation offices was passed.

Orders on the establishment of an office for the mediation of employees, unemployed workers and on support for workers were passed on April 13, 1919. year. That year, the Mediation Office was established in Sarajevo.

The building where the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina is located today was built in 1927.

In the past 100 years, employment services have had different names and organizations:

Labor market 1945-1946.

Mediation service within the trade union 1946-1948.

Manpower Administration 1948-1952.

Workers Mediation Bureau 1952-1960.

Institute for Employment of Workers 1960-1965.

Community for employment affairs or employment institutes 1965-1967.

Basic and regional SIZs and the Association of SIZs for employment 1975-1985.

SIZ for employment BiH 1985-1990.

BiH Employment Office from October 1, 1990.

Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina from August 1, 2003. year.

The Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was founded in 2003, took on the honorable role of preserving the tradition of the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so in the future, together with other institutions of labor and employment, it will carry out all the activities necessary to improve employment and the quality of service provision to unemployed persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
